Will you share the cost of this?

In our country the medical care you receive does depend on what you can afford. So we have insurance which is supposed to help level the playing field. But we all know how that works. Among other things, insurance will determine what treatment you receive.

I read this article with interest. Would you want your insurance premiums to reflect a treatment that costs over $10,000 a year for the thousands who will want it? Is it worth it?

Is $10,000 reasonable? When will it go generic? So we can invent wonderful new cures, but no one can afford them? How do we determine a fair price for any one health issue?

This medical thing is scary on many levels.
